About
Coach Mike grew up in Athens, Greece and has been involved in the game of soccer for over 35 years as both a player and coach.
His coaching career began more than 16 years ago with Virginia Rush Soccer Club, where he has coached and mentored goalkeepers at every level of the game. During his time with Virginia Rush, Coach Mike has helped develop goalkeepers who have gone on to compete in the USL Women’s Super League (professional), USL League Two (semi-professional), USL-W League (semi-professional), US Youth National Team, as well as at collegiate programs across all divisions, Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams, club travel teams, and elite academies.
In 2024, Coach Mike played a key role in the development and signing of the youngest American women’s professional goalkeeper in U.S. history, a milestone achievement that reflects his commitment to long-term player development.
Coach Mike joined Old Dominion University Women’s Soccer (NCAA Division I) as the Goalkeeper Coach in 2021. During his time with the Lady Monarchs, he helped the program win the Conference USA Championship and earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament. Under his guidance, ODU goalkeepers recorded 11 shutouts and earned multiple Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
In addition, Coach Mike serves as the Goalkeeper Coach and Assistant Coach for VB United, working with both the USL League Two men’s team and the USL W women’s team. VB United goalkeepers have earned league-wide recognition, including Save of the Month and Save of the Year awards.
Beyond the field, Coach Mike is a proud 20-year U.S. Navy veteran. He currently resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his wife and their two daughters.
